Given task for the exam was to explore the city of Rotterdam, revealing it's hidden layers and make them visible to the public. Choice of publication media was free.
In my personal view, I see a city as a living organism formed by it's inhabitants and their daily life. Each inhabitant has a very own individual perception of ”his“ city.
Maps are visual tools to communicate about inter-relations of items, objects or subjects in general. So on the one side my research focused on the history of mapping but also about individual perception of "reality". Reflecting my own perception of Rotterdam I drew my individual map of Rotterdam, forming a visual base to communicate with my co-inhabitants about my relation to this city.
